A woman in her 40s was discovered dead at home, prompting cops to launch an investigation into the mysterious tragedy.
Officers received a report of a woman’s welfare concern shortly before 12.30pm Saturday at an address in Pallion, a Sunderland suburb.
A woman was discovered dead inside the address on Brady St by emergency personnel.
Cops are currently treating the woman’s death as unexplained, and her next of kin has been notified.
Specially trained family liaison officers continue to provide them with any assistance they require.
Police have asked the public for assistance as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Northumbria Police Detective Superintendent Jane Fairlamb said, “This is clearly an absolutely awful time for the woman’s family, and all our thoughts remain with them as they attempt to come to terms with the events of the last 24 hours.”
“I would appreciate it if their privacy could be respected while we conduct a thorough investigation into the woman’s death.”
“An increased police presence remains in the area as officers continue to conduct a variety of investigations, and anyone with any concerns is encouraged to speak with them.”
