Who is Jaylin Morrison? Nevada woman shot and killed suspected carjacker with his own gun

A woman shot and killed a suspected carjacker in self-defense last month when he was trying to drive off in her car in a North Las Vegas neighborhood, police said this week, according to a report.

The victim and a friend were waiting to go inside for an early Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 19 when a car parked in front of them, according to FOX 5 Las Vegas.

Two or three men allegedly got out of the car and dragged the woman out of the driver’s seat and her friend out of the passenger seat. One of the suspects got inside but couldn’t figure out how to drive because it was a push-to-start vehicle.

When the victim noticed the suspect had placed the gun in his lap to figure out where the car was, she grabbed it and ran, telling her friend to do the same.

Jaylin Morrison was charged with kidnapping, robbery conspiracy, attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, burglary with a deadly weapon, and grand larceny of a vehicle.

As she attempted to flee, the suspect tackled her and refused to let her go. According to police, she turned and shot him.

She then fled and hid in a house’s side yard as a second suspect opened fire on her. He fled before police arrived, who discovered the suspect dead in the street, bleeding from the head.

She was arrested but released without charge after police determined she had acted in self-defense.

Nearly two weeks later, a suspect named Jaylin Morrison was apprehended after his car was seen on surveillance footage driving around the area that night. He was a known associate of the suspect who was shot.

He was charged with kidnapping, conspiracy to commit robbery, attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, burglary with a deadly weapon, and attempted grand larceny of a vehicle.

He is being held on $50,000 bail.
